Alfalfa Growing

Alfalfa  (Medicago Sativa) has many uses that are beneficial. It has been used as a diuretic as well as a laxative to clear out toxins within the body. Some of the ailments that Alfalfa has been used for are: high cholesteral, arthritis, water retention, constipation, kidney conditions, bladder and prostate conditions and to increase urine flow. It can be good for use in asthma, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, upset stomach, and diabetes.

Alfalfa Leaf can be taken in capsules, used as a tea, juiced or eaten as sprouts. Alfalfa is naturally high in many essential vitamins and minerals including, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine, sodium, potassium, silicon, and trace elements. A, D, E,and K. It is also full of the B vitamins; biotin,  calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, potassium and is very high in protein, especially when dried.  The name Alfalfa comes from the Arabic al-fac-facah, which means “Father of all Foods.”

Do not use alfalfa if you are on warfarin.
